The latter half of October saw the more Urban-focused part of the Livemusic Presents… Students Union Tour. This tour featured up-and-coming acts from the Urban-HipHop-Rap-Grime arena including Clement Marfo and the Frontline (since nominated for MTV’s New For 2012) and Stooshe (included in the BBC ‘s Sounds of 2012 listing) These exciting, energetic bands took the stage around six universities in the UK and once again played the final show at the Kings College Students Union – with a surprise guest appearance from Grime veteran Ghetts onstage … and Archbishop Desmond Tutu at the soundcheck (no less!)

Students Unions featured ont his tour were the following:

Leicester, Sussex, Solent, Reading, Essex and the final venue Kings College

The tour was wholly advertised by guerilla flyering and using Facebook (mainly through the burgeoning Livemusic Facebook community, the bands own fan pages, and the SU’s own group pages). The final gig was an awesome celebration of British urban music featuring 5 bands (one Live&Loud band and 4 other bands – all of whom have been recognised since by MTV &/or the BBC as the ones-to-watch in 2012) … the highlight of the evening was Clement Marfo’s performance of their new single “Overtime’ featuring a guest appearance onstage by iconic Grime-star ‘Ghetts’ – though arguably the appearance at the soundcheck by ex-alumni of Kings College Archbishop Desmond Tutu took some beating!
