LMFM & 2010’s Ones To Watch

Titus Andronicus at the City & Arts Project, Shoreditch May 2010

This summer save a trio of video projects all aimed at delivering some unique live footage and one-off commentary from three up&coming new bands. Indie rockers Titus Andronicus & Surfer Blood and electro-pop prime movers HURTS.

Rather handily all three bands were both great live and also very accommodating in the interviews and allowed us to lead them a little (with a bit of scripting and careful questions) … so we got some great sound-bytes to use in the creation of both the tours for Livemusic.fm and the forthcoming Live&Loud gig-booking service. As usual I used my top AV crew consisting of Simon Payne as DoP and Debbie Bragg as sound assistant/second camera. Kitt Proudfoot did the interviewing and despite the fact that we’d never worked together before, and that the first gig was by far the highest profile of the three, he did an admirable job. His immediate rapport with all 3 bands was absolutely invaluable to get them at their ease and then allow us to ask the quite pointed questions that were obviously aimed at promoting both LMFM and the new service. I think that in essence we managed to get what we wanted without harming anyone’s artistic integrity. So result I reckon … see for yourselves.
